please show proper role-playing etiquette. racism, homophobia, pedophilia, or any similar content will not be tolerated. dark themes and nsfw are welcome after mutual agreement and discussion.

most interactions will assume a multi-wol verse where the warrior of light is a shared role with rp partners, or that meteor is the warrior of light. if your character is a non-wol and would like to acknowledge lyra as the warrior of light in an interaction, feel free to do so! otherwise, lyra's character can be interchanged between being the wol or a non-wol.

you do not have to acknowledge lyra as the oracle of sharlayan. her simply being a sharlayan noblewoman is sufficient in most interactions. in most contexts, however, i may opt to portray her as a sharlayan seer/astrologian with some unique capabilities. if you would like to refer to her as the oracle of sharlayan, you are very much welcome to! i would be very grateful and honored to be able to write her in her true context.

you do not have to acknowledge thancred as her partner. in general interactions and most contexts, i do not integrate her relationship with thancred unless my rp partner would like to interact with their relationship being established. if you would like to talk about thancred that way, give me a heads up!

in that same light, in interactions where thancred is not her partner, lyra can be interacted with in a romantic manner. please consult me first if you would be interested in a romantic dynamic with lyra!

lyra's proper honorific is "her/your serene grace". simply "her/your grace" and "her/your serenity" are also other ways of referring to her, depending on your preference. if your character does not wish to refer to her by any titles, that is totally fine!

lyra speaks formally and is rather reserved. but if you speak with her, you will find that she is rather friendly and warm-hearted. just know that she is often not one to initiate conversation and she often keeps to herself!

hook 1. you might find her by somewhere where the sky is visible. perhaps a window, or a balcony. often, she looks up to them, and her eyes seem so faraway. it's a tranquil sight, would you dare interrupt it?

hook 2. lyra is a patron of the arts, and very much a creative in her own right. you might find her listening to a bard, admiring a sculpture, or reading a book. very rarely, away from prying eyes, you might even catch her in her element: perhaps humming a melody, writing a poem, or painting with easel and canvas.

hook 3. to sharlayans, the actaea name is highly respected one, with their family's long history of serving in the forum. they are similarly renowned for investing in local sharlayan businesses and studium projects. in that same vein, to have their heiress serve as the oracle of sharlayan— she must be a lady to be revered, indeed.

hook 4. as she harkens to the the heavens, lyra is susceptible to prophecy. one with aethersight may observe that lyra's aether very much mirrors the stars above, an endless pool of aether amassing within her. the nature of her aether has made her a renowned astrologian for her accurate foresight and intuition. would you seek her counsel?

i. the oracle and the nymphai.

Archon Nyunkrepf was not alone in his efforts to help those adrift during The Great Flood. It is said that his ship had been blessed by the magicks of heaven-born entities.The Nymphai, spirits believed to be born of the Heaven of Water, helped guide Nyunkrepf’s ship through the rough seas. These spirits also led the Archon and his refugees back to the isles on the Northern Empty, where they would find safety and solace.While Archon Nyunkrepf decided that each citizen of Sharlayan was permitted a voice in the formation of their nation, he in his wisdom also sought the counsel of the Nymphai who led them ashore. The Nymphai responded by choosing a young cleric, named Phemonoe, to whom they would trust and commune. a branch between mortals and these divine spirits.Phemonoe became the first oracle of Sharlayan, and with the Nymphai’s teachings she would help guide the Ecclesia. The oracle would become a role vital to Sharlayan’s development, overseeing their traditions, as well as the worship and research of The Twelve. The oracle continues to work alongside The Forum to this day. some even consider the oracle to be the 100th seat of the forum, but they do not need to answer to forum legislation or sharlayan law, as they are protected by the sanctity of the nymphai.The Nymphai returned to their domains on the island and the waters beyond. While some sought to study or harness their knowledge and prowess, they remained hidden to most— only emerging to whom they wish to, and when they wish to. The Nymphaeum beneath The Rostra remains a tribute to these spirits, and is where the oracle is anointed every Ascension.

ii. the sanctum.

The Sanctum refers to an area of Old Sharlayan and the office of the oracle. Many offer their services to the oracle, such as attendants, healers, and even researchers. Like the Oracle, The Sanctum is devoted to the faith and traditions of Sharlayan, as well as guidance and healing.The Sanctum resides on a group of islands southeast of Sharlayan’s main coast, surrounded by waters said to be guarded by the Nymphai. There are many temples and buildings within The Sanctum. The Ara, The Telesterion, The Palaistra, and The Asclepieion are among the most notable.The Ara is known as the main temple of the oracle. Most seeking an audience with the oracle would visit her here. While some of its corridors are open for public visitation, there are certain rooms reserved only for the oracle and their guests. some say that there lies an altar where the oracle communes with the Nymphai and the Heavens.The Telesterion is a temple and sanctuary residing to the east of the Ara. Here, priests and priestesses often engage in prayer or rituals. The Telesterion’s primary purpose is to serve as a great hall for open-air festivals, celebrations, and events. these events often pay tribute to the twelve or to the nymphai.The Palaistra is an open-air arena that is a venue for Studium olympiads and other events.The Asclepieion would become known as a temple of healing in Sharlayan. Many clerics and chirurgeons practice here, treating the sick, injured, and afflicted. Here, the oracle practices advanced techniques taught to them by the Nymphai.The Athenaeum, also known as the Sharlayan Athenaeum or Athenaeum Stellarium, is the main seminary of Astromancy. Other schools of Astromancy, such as the Ishgardian Athenaeum Astrologicum, have branched out from this Athenaeum and hold The Sanctum in high regards. Many students of The Studium pursue further study and mastery of Astromancy under The Athenaeum. Many resources and tools are available to the public here to aid in study, such as an extensive library, and an observatorium.

iii. sharlayan nobility and house actaea.

Like other nations, Sharlayan has its own form of social hierarchy. While The Forum handles governance and legislature, and The Sanctum oversees faith, tradition, and healing— The Sharlayan nobility are tasked with diplomacy, business, and public service. their duties include investing in local businesses and trade, helping fund and create projects, as well as providing opportunities for education and employment.Unlike other nations, Sharlayan’s nobility derives from achievements of excellence and service. many graduates of the studium, archons, and forum members are among the nobility of sharlayan. The houses of Baldesion, Leveilleur, and Actaea are among many notable families.house actaea is one of the oldest noble families of sharlayan. it was granted its line by the forum around the year 220 of the sixth astral era. many of its members have served in the forum or were renowned researchers from the studium. While theirs is a small family, they are beloved by Sharlayan for their continuous backing of academic projects and local businesses.

i. birth and early childhood.

When Lyra was born, it was as if the night sky stood still in all of its brilliance. Even the waters of the Thaliak River seemed to be calm. However, there was not a sound, not a whimper from her as she sat in her mother’s arms. Her skin was pale, and her breaths were but whispers. The chirurgeons did all that they could, but the child seemed impossible to save— her aether waned with every passing second.As a final plea, the mother took her child to the river, dragging her feet as her husband assisted at her side. There, she prayed to The Twelve, to the Nymphai that served them, that anyone might save her daughter. Soon, her pleas would be heard, as a nymph emerged from the depths of the waters.From a phial in her keeping, the nymph pours its contents above the babe’s head. The droplets ripple into her skin with a gentle light. Soon, a loud cry can be heard into the night. The child’s skin warms with color, with white markings resembling tears surfacing on her cheeks. When her eyes open, they find that her eyes have become silver— resembling the stars in the sky. She would live. Her parents named her Lyra Athene, a beautiful baby girl who lived by the intervention of the goddess of fate.As Lyra began to grow, however, she was rather frail. Seldom was she able to enjoy time outside or play with other children. She often grew tired and weak, at times even to the point of fainting if she was too exhausted. While chirurgeons did all that they could, they could not find the reason behind her infirmity. Despite her ailment, she found joy in the little things: instruments to play, stories her mother would tell her, even writing and painting. Most of all, she found comfort in confiding in the stars. To Lyra, it often felt as if she could listen to them— feel them.
